Adiantum venustum . Spreading maidenhair for the rock garden .

Asplenium ruta-muraria, Wall rue. A tiny evergreen plant for rockery or trough garden. Not easy. 8cm.

Asplenium ceterach, Small wall fern for rockery or trough garden, hairy fronds, not easy.

Asplenium scolopendrium 'Kayes' Small 30cm., with wide crispy edged leaves. (Picture)

Asplenium scolopendrium 'Crispum Group'. Form of above with crimped wavy edged leaves.

Asplenium trichomanes 'Grandiceps' A type of Maidenhair Spleenwort. with large crest on frond end.

Athyrium filix-femina 'Cruciatum Group' Sporelings of 'Victoriae' with crossed over pinna.

Cheilanthes lanosa 25cm White hairy fronds a true rock garden plant may be just hardy in some parts.

Dryopteris aemula. Hay Scented Buckler Fern. 40cm+. Shade and moist soil , not easy.

Dryopteris affinis ‘Congesta Cristata’ Dwarf form of affinis.

Dryopteris affinis ‘Cambreensis. Strong growing form.

Dryopteris carthusiana Cristata. Crested form of this small fern.

Dryopteris dilatata. ‘Grandiceps Group’ Large crest on the end of the frond.

Dryopteris clintoniae, Good fleshy leaves likes moist spot, very like Dryopteris cristata.

Dryopteris filix-mas ’Cristatum Grandiceps Group’. Heavy crested form of the male fern. 70cm+.

Dryopteris filix-mas ’Fluctosa’ Wavy form of the Male Fern.

Dryopteris uniformis. Broad leafy fronds, not much known about this could be tender.

Dryopteris wallichiana. 80cm+. Black hairy stems with golden fronds, at least if grown with some lime in the soil. Shade moist soil, can be difficult.

Gymnocarpium oyamense Ground cover with lush green leaves, shade, moist soil, may not be easy.

Gymnocarpium robertianum. 30cm As above but not as fine , though it likes lime.(Picture)

Onychium japonicum. Fine cut leaves not easy.

Osmunda claytoniae. 80cm. Nice fresh fronds could be tender.

Polypodium austale. Southern Polypod. 25cm, Evergreen spreading fern, likes lime can be difficult.

Polypodium interjectum. 30cm+

Polypodium vulgare ‘Elegantissimum’ With crispy leaves.

Polystichum aculeatum ‘Grandiceps Group’. Form with a large crest at the end of the frond.

Polystichum aculeatum ‘Densum Group’. Dwarf dense form of aculeatum.

Polystichum setiferum ‘Congestum Grandiceps Group’ Heavily crested form.

Polystichum setiferum 'Ivorianum' Dense foliage and tufted edges.

Polystichum setiferum ‘Foliosum Divisilobum’. Withspreading and cut foliage.

Woodwardia fimbriata. Giant Chain Fern. 100Cm Shade and shelter, not easy but impressive where it can be grown.
