Note on Catalogue.

The fern list is prepared in the winter and of course as we are fern growers, and not simply sellers, plants being living things it sometimes happens that stock may fail to come through the season. Also as demand varies stock can sometimes sell out unexpectedly, thus the presence of a plant in the catalogue cannot be a guarantee of availability.

Planting times. We do not recommend planting ferns after September or before May in the U.K. Therefore if you are thinking of ordering ferns between these months we recommend waiting until spring before sending in your order.

Opening Times and Visiting

The nursery is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from April to September, 9am to 4pm. At other times, or if coming a long way, it may be best to telephone first, as we sometimes have to close. For visitors a greater range of ferns, plus plants in larger and smaller sizes are often available. We can if you wish recommend many other attractions in the Lincolnshire Wolds area of outstanding natural beauty, to make a good day out, see links below.

How to find us.

Leaving the Market Square in Binbrook village, take the B1203 to Grimsby and after travelling 400metres, we are to be found on the left hand side of the road. Binbrook is a half hour drive from the M180 and the same distance from the Lincoln ring road.

Booklet, and paper catalogue.

A full colour booklet on growing ferns, published in conjunction with the Hardy Plant Society, is now available for purchase. The booklet describes most of the common ferns that gardeners in the U.K. are likely to encounter, gives explicit cultural instructions, plus a range of fascinating background information about the history and natural history of these plants. To purchase please go to either, the on line, or the mail order purchasing lists where you will find details at the foot of each page. A paper catalogue of the plants we have for sale can be obtained by sending two first class stamps to the above address.

WHAT FERN.
If you have a garden fern and do not know its name, here are some pages that give a very rough giude to identify ferns, that you might find in the garden. It is not definitive by any means, but it may get you started on the right track to name a fern, with luck. And also a page just to answer the basic question what is a fern anyway.
